Notes
The following record is in the Old Protestant Evangelical Church at Manheim in French: Oct 10, 1665 Louis DuBois son of late Chretien Dubois of Weirs near LaBarrie of the one part and Catherine Blanchan, daughter of Mathew Blanchan of the City of Manheim of the other part, were married in the French Church at Manheim.
Religious persecution in Artois induced Louis and Jacques DuBois to abandon their country. Louis went to Manheim in the Palantinate. At Manheim, Louis was thrown into intimate relations with Mathese Blanchan and Christien Deyou, also Huguenot refugees, the former from vicinity of his father's estate in Artois and the latter from the neighborhood of Calais. In Oct 10, 1655 Louis married Catherine, the daughter of Mathese Blanchan and his wife Madeline Jorisse. The following record is in the Old Protestant Evangelical Church at Manheim in French: "Oct 10, 1665, Louis DuBois, son of late Chretien DuBois of Wiers near La Bassee of the one part and Catherine Blanchan daughter of Mathew Blanchan of the City of Manheim on the other part, were married in the French Church at Manheim."
They had two sons born in Manheim --- Abraham and Isaac. All their other children were born in America.
Louis DuBois, known as Louis the Walloon, followed the agricultural pursuits while Blanchan followed his avocation as distiller.
He was in "St Jean Baptists" in 1661. Ref: p.974 Abridged Compendums of Am. Geneol.
