Notes

A Merchant in Brooklyn, N.Y. He moved to Mobile Alabama with his father and sister sometime after 1860, and returned to New York City about 1865. He lived for a short time with his mother's sister, Mrs. Abigail (Case) Resler of New York City. He received $500 from his uncle's will, June 1904. A letter dated 2/1/52 from Ida May Briggs to Lillian (Briggs) Gosman stated that she found David R. Briggs to have been born in Bloomingdale, NY. It also states that the minister that married David R. Briggs and Cornelia Bowrosan was "Wm. H. Honson, on May 19, 1872". The letter is not sure of the church, and proposes this as a clue to locate the exact church. !Census (1880): Brooklyn, NY, p.362A David Briggs, age 29 b. NY, dealer in fish, father b. NY, mother b.
