Notes
In the family history, by Lillian May Briggs, she said his birth place was "probably Halifax, Yorkshire, England". However, in a letter dated 19 Jan 1976 (about 13 years after the history was written) to Lillian from Doris F. Bolstridge (Neaman), Doris writes: "John was horn in Manchester, but I have not found which parish --- there are so many in that big city." See notes for his wife, Elizabeth Fuller, also.
