Notes

Estate settled at Annapolis, Md. His father is identified by Edward Brandt Latimer of Columbia SC in an e-mail message to me on June 13 1995 by Paul Helman who had corresponded with Ed. !Administration: 9 Mar 1718: "James Latimer dec'd final acct of Mary Latimer admx. of James Latimer" [pg. 146 of original]. In [Charles Co., Md., Adm. Accounts, by Carol Mitchell, pg. 25 Carnegie Library] James Latimer and Mary Brandt were entrusted with the guardianship of two orphans, Ann & William Fairfax (note that Lawrence Washington, guardian of George Washington, lived directly across the Potomac from them at Mt. Vernon, virtually direct neighbors). Ann & Wm were the children of John Fairfax. James Latimer owned a property called "Maycock's Rest", which descended to Marcus Latimer (his grandson, son of James)
