John Reed (30 DEC 1730-18 FEB 1803) m. Thankful Honowell (6 APR 1734-23 JAN 1821) on 1754, children: 1. Elsie Read (1755-BEF 20 FEB 1802), 2. Rhoda Read (1757-AFT 20 FEB 1802), 3. Jeremiah Reed (14 DEC 1762-6 MAR 1838), 4. Rachel Read (1 JUL 1763-2 APR 1843).
Notes:
On 5 June 1749: Acted as executor for the estate of Thomas Reed of Somerset Co., NJ (his brot
her).
8 Jun 1761: Administrator for estate of his sister Sarah Reed of Monmouth Co., NJ. [NJ Arch 33:346]
It is ONLY a conjecture that he is the father of John Reed who m. Thankful Honowell.. He did have one son named John, as evidenced by his brother Joseph's will, where "John, son of my deceased brother Andrew" is named 1771.
Note: billgentry@worldnet.att.net had info that he m. Theodocia Bowes 2 Aug 1740. I have not confirmed. If so, and if that was a first marriage, that would seem to rule him out as a father of Capt. John Reed.
