His parentage appears to be an open question. Several sources list several different parents. An article, "Mary (Dyre) Ward: Mary (Barrett) Dyre's missing Daughter Traced" NEHGR 145(1991):22-23 conclusive shows that he was not the son of William Dyre of Rhode Island and his wife Mary Barrett, the quaker hanged at Boston 1 Jun 1660. Frank Dyer has sent me some info showing the William Dyer of Sheepscot Maine theory to be unlikely, as well as a book that claims him to be the son of Benjamin Dyer of Sheepscot Maine...

Her birth record has not been located (and is not listed along with the records of Lydia and Jonathan her siblings). However, her father is known to be Henry Taylor of Barnstable, information that comes from the Will of widow Mary Haughton, wherein it says: "To Mary Taylor ye Daughter of Henry Taylor twenty Shillins". The will is found printed in the Mayflower Descendant 18:134-5 (1916), and is dated Jan 19, 1686.
"Cape Cod Series, Vol II, History and Genealogy of the Mayflower Planters and first Comers to Ye Olde Colonie" by Leon Clark Hills; Hills Pub. Co., Washington D.C.; 1941, pg. 83, also lists Mary as the daughter of Henry Taylor of Barnstable. So does [Freeman 2:551].

From "Cape Cod Series, Vol. II, History and Genealogy of the Mayflower Planters and first Com
ers to Ye Olde Colonie" by Leon Clark Hills; Hills Pub. Co., Washington D.C., 1941:
Dyer, William, born England, and seems to have gone directly to Sheepscot, on landing in New England. He was there in 1662, and appears to have resided in that vicinity of Massachusetts continually thereafter.
The Dyer Family was ancient in Somerset County, England. There are pedigrees of it in the Visitations of that country. It has produced many able men, among whom are Sir James Dyer, Knight, Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas 1558. He died in 1581-2. Sir Edward Dyer, Knight, Chancellor of the Garter, a poet of Elizabeth's time, who was buried at St. Savior's, Southwark in May 1607, and Sir Thomas Dyer, Knight, Sheriff of Somerset 1558.
The Dyer family was severely persecuting by King James, and was especially condemned for loyalty to Charles I, which possibly influenced some members of the clan to settle in New England.
He was apparently killed by Indians in Sheepscot Maine in 1689 [from frank.dyer@circellar.com, a descendant of his son John]

Notes:
From Leon Clark Hills' book, Vol. 2:
Pabodie (Peabody), John, born England; arrived in Plymouth as early as 1636, and was a freeman there in 1637. His grand of land in Jan., 1636, was for 10 acres on the Duxbury side, lying between the lands of William Tubs and Experience Mitchell, and from "Blew Fish River in the caste." He received other lands, and served on juries, but, apparently, led a quiet lief. He made a will dated July 16, 1649, at Duxbury, which seems to have been recorded in April 27, 1667, by one John "ffernesyde," the witness to the will. He mentions Thomas, eldest son, Francis, second son, and William, youngest son, also Annis Rouse, daughter, wife of John Rouse.
Arrived on the ship "Planter".
I have seen an unsubstantiated rumor on the net that his wife was Isabel Harper.
