Deeds of 17 July 1811 and 9 Dec 1815 establish Josiah York as the father of Eliphalet York, w ith Eliphalet's wife Nancy mentioned. The deed of 9 Dec 1815 and 9 Dec 1814 also involve a Josiah York Jr. and a Thomas York, who would presumably be additional sons of Josiah and Hannah York.

Samuel Glenn

Samuel Glenn moved to Orange Co., Indiana before 1820, then moved to Illinois in 1830, wher e he settled on section 31 in Magnolia Twp., Putnam Co., IL, being one of the earliest pioneers in that area. He participated in the Black Hawk war. His wife, Elizabeth, died there, after which he went to Iowa where he died. [From Bio of Young A. Glenn, Putnam Co. biographical record, pg. 693]

Info from Darrow K. Little, email of Sept 1999: Samuel was born c1740 in Franklin Co., PA. Moved to Anderson Co., SC. Had: Isaac, Elizabeth, Esther, Rebecca, Thomas (never married), Samuel Jr.

Samuel Glenn was mustered for the Black Hawk war on 18 Jun 1832 at Henepin. He was a private in the company of Captain William Haws, in the mounted volunteers, fourtieth regiment, fourth brigade, first division of the Illinois militia, commanded by Col. John Strawn. Also privates in his regiment were Hiram Allen and Thomas Glenn. [Putnam Co. Volunteers, listed on pages 493-4 in "The Black Hawk War Illinois Volunteers 1831-2, Vol. 1, compiled by Ellen M. Whitney, Illinois State Historical Library, Springfield, 1970].

He is probably also the Samuel Glenn who got an 80 acre land grant in Putnam Co., Illniois on 18 Mar 1835 along with Isaac B. Glenn.

Darrow K. Little provided info in an email that he was born c1740 in Franklin Co., PA. Prior to this, birthdate only known to be prior to 1775. DKL also provided parentage (Samuel & Elizabeth (Morrow) Glenn)

Was his wife the daughter of James Shields? Check out this record:

I found some tombstones in Danbury that do not quite agree with the birthdates for William and Mary E. Crofutt, but do agree in name. They are interesting to note [http://home.att.net/~gravestones/LongR.html]:
"The Long Ridge Cemetery is located on Long Ridge Road in the far southern part of Danbury. It is between a house lot and a wooded lot, and is easily missed when driving by. The overall condition is fairly good, considering that there is no evidence of routine upkeep. This cemetery was most likely affiliated with the Long Ridge Methodist Church, which still exists about 1/4 mile south of the cemetery."

Jaimie identified these for me in an email on Oct 19, 2004. Mary Emma Wood, b. 2 Aug 1823 Danbury, d. 11 Feb 1908 Danbury, m. William Edgar Crofut, b. 16 Apr 1817 Redding, CT, d. 15 Apr 1884 Danbury, m. 5 Nov 1845 Danbury. Their children b. Danbury include: Mary Eugenie b. 12 Dec 1849, d. 12 Feb 1852; William Edgar b. 8 Aug 1853; Isabella b. 1 Sep 1856, d. 9 Jun 1862. Mary Emma is the dau. of Philo Wood (7 Dec 1788-29 Oct 1864) and Amy Barlow (23 May 1792-12 Dec 1876).

I also found another William H. in a Danbury cemetery [http://home.att.net/~gravestones/ChristianChurch.html]: The Christian Church Cemetery is located at the corner of King Street and East King Street, about 0.7 miles west of Route 39. The cemetery is next to the current Christian Church, and is well maintained by that group. There are very few damaged stones here, but many of the older stones are beginning to show their age.
